T-ST 1144 - Movement Studio 2
Movement Studio 2 is the second semester of a two-semester course that is designed to develop the psycho-physical foundations of acting by strengthening the connection between your mind and body. The tools of the training are based in the trainings and teachings of Jerzy Grotowski and focus on movement and the body in their dynamic relationship to the mind, image, imagination, breath, and partner. As part of the work in this course, you will increase flexibility, strength and agility, however the goal of the work is not athleticism, but preparedness for, and ease in, using the body as an instrument and generator of image, voice, metaphor, and emotion. In the second semester, our focus turns to physical actions, and bringing together the practices of plastique and corporal rivers, breath, voice and text within compositions and scenes. We will also explore more deeply the blocks that emerge from the internal judge and how to channel that energy into performance.
