T-EN 2941 - Ensemble Performance Lab 3
This performance lab will explore and apply techniques of ensemble creation from the pedagogy of French theater innovator, Jacques Lecoq (1921-1999), and other practitioners. Through exercises in analysis, assignments, warm-ups, reflections, observations and improvisations the student will work to build tools of the actor/creator. Using short story, poetry, painting and dreams as source material throughout the semester, the lab will culminate in an ensemble performance. Additionally, we will be working with collaborating artist, Alli Ross, a dance theater artist and educator. Note: For the first eight sessions of the semester, the work will be divided between building ensemble tools and common language of creation and applying those tools in group and individual work. After that, the lab will be focus on scripting and rehearsing. Please note the additional rehearsal times on the syllabus.
