M-SK 73910 - Guerilla Opera Course
The purpose of this course is to guide both performers - singers and instrumentalists - and composers through the process of writing and producing a short chamber opera or short scene of a larger planned work over the course of one semester. Led by Mike Williams – Co-Director of Guerilla Opera, the course will focus on each stage of the process culminating in a semi-staged performance at the end of the semester featuring the enrolled students’ work. Areas of concentration will include: selecting and adapting source material; libretto editing; composing for specific voice types and instrumentations; direction for the stage; scenic and costume design; music and staging rehearsals; fundraising, marketing and promotion; and running tech and dress rehearsals./ Instructor permission required.
