M-LT 71148 - Fugue
This course is a comprehensive study of fugue from antiquity to the present with an emphasis on Bach.  We will examine the various types of fugue as well as the unique approach of composers such as Scarlatti, Mozart, Beethoven, Bartok and Stravinsky as well as its influence on contemporary composers.  Students will gradually develop contrapuntal skills by composing canons, inventions and ultimately a four voice fugue as a final project.
