D-ST 3901 - Laban Movement Analysis
The expressive power of movement, including dance, is explored through the principles of Laban Movement Analysis(SM), a theoretical and experiential system originally developed by Rudolf Laban. Focus is on the concepts of Effort (dynamics), Space Harmony (spatial awareness), and Laban’s history and philosophy. Concepts are explored through movement tasks, improvisation, dance repertory, classroom discussion, and observation of movement both recorded and in the field.
