D-ST 0201 - Contact Skills 1
An investigation of the partnering principles and skills that have developed as foundational moements for Contact Improvisation. In this class, dancers will explore the physical forces imposed on the body by gravity and by the physics of momentum, and how these forces can be harnessed to support partnering. Dancers will work with sensations and images to establish patterns of movement through direct action (roll, slide, spiral, rise, fall, counterbalance, support, lift, loft, and catch). 2 hours weekly; 1 credit
