D-ST 0109 - Ballet Technique
This course is designed to introduce the basic concepts of ballet. Concentration will be placed on proper body alignment, placement and turn out or rotation of the legs from the hip sockets. Students will also study positions of the body in relation to space and direction of a movement(croisé, effacé, enfacé) including the head and shoulders(épaulment) and positions of the arms and poses of the body(attitudes, arabesques, écarte). Class time will include exercises at the barre as well as the classical progression of center work(adagio, tendus, fondue, pirouettes, petit allegro, medium and grand allegro).
