An academic class exploring the contributions of the African-American influence and aesthetic as it pertains to American Modern Dance from the early twentieth century to present day. Included will be discussions on the contributions of Katherine Dunham, Pearl Primus, Donald McKayle, Alvin Ailey, Arthur Mitchell, Bill T. Jones and others.
